In March, Kubota University discontinued face-to-face training in response to the coronavirus pandemic.  This decision brought a challenge with it: “If we can’t train face-to-face, what can we do to show dealers we are on their side by continuing to provide effective training?”.  The response to this challenge has been a pivot to video and live-online programming.

To present a professional look for the people who participate in KU training, they worked with a supplier to design and build a “studio” at the Central Division facility in Ft. Worth.  This studio features a “news desk”, professional lighting, and even a green screen area.  Armed with this new tool, KU and the departments they work with have been finding many ways to put it to good use.

As Kubota Connect went virtual, KU used the facility to create pre-recorded video segments that provided a consistent message to dealers who visited their booth.  2021 technician training will feature less face-to-face instruction and that time will be focused more intensely on hands-on activities because students will be asked to watch a series of videos in advance that take the place of what would have otherwise been lecture in a more traditional approach.

KU is currently broadcasting a series of live online training sessions designed to quickly get new dealer sales representatives up-to-speed on Kubota products, and a pilot program that trains dealer sales managers on proven management practices will be broadcast from the studio in November.  The set will also be heavily leveraged as KU and Product Marketing work together to create a series of training videos communicating the value of Kubota’s 2021 product line-up.

Even as face-to-face training resumes, pre-recorded video and live-online training will help make training increasingly efficient and effective.  Enjoy a sample of this content here, as Seth Vangsness talks you through some of the engine components used in modern engine emissions control systems.
