Kubota’s 5 Early Season Mowing Tips. Are You Ready?

6/4/2018

Spring mowing season is upon us, and as you get out there to make your yard beautiful you’ll want to make certain you’re cutting your grass for maximum impact. Our team of experts has decades of experience in this area, and they’ve compiled a list of simple-to-do mowing and maintenance tips for early season mowing.

First, set the deck high.

The experts suggest that you mow high, mow often, and mow healthy in the early part of the season. You’ll mow more often, but you’ll love the look. And your neighbors just might thank you for it.

Second, keep your blades sharp.

Mower maintenance is essential. We recommend that you sharpen your blades every 8 to 10 cuttings. If you have a smaller yard, you can probably wait a bit longer between sharpeninings.

Third, dry is better.

It’s better for your grass to cut it when dry. Wet grass tends to cut less cleanly, resulting in larger clippings and even clumps.

Fourth, ditch the bag.

It’s good for your lawn to leave on the short clippings, rather than bagging. As they decompose, they add vital nutrients to the grass.

Fifth, change your Spring Mowing pattern occasionally.

Alternate your cutting direction weekly for improved lawn health and appearance. Try something new for a change.
